Kathua Celebrates 77th Republic Day with Massive Parade and Cultural Displays at Sports Stadium

KATHUA, January 26, 2026 – The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with grand enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at the District Sports Stadium in Kathua today. Satish Sharma, MLA and Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & IT, and Youth Services & Sports, served as the chief guest for the occasion.

He unfurled the National Flag and took the salute during a meticulously organized march past. The parade, reflecting the region’s disciplined spirit, was led by Parade Commander Pushpa Rajput and Second Parade Commander Muzahair Ali Zaffri.

The event drew a massive audience, supported by elaborate security measures coordinated by the local police to ensure a seamless celebration.The ceremonial parade featured a diverse array of contingents, including the District Police Line Kathua, IRP 19th Battalion, PTS Kathua, 121 Battalion CRPF, Home Guards, and the Forest Protection Force.

A significant highlight was the participation of youth through NCC Cadets, Bharat Scouts & Guides, and students from numerous educational institutions such as JS Heritage School, DPS Rajbagh, and Spring Dales, among others.

Dignitaries in attendance included DDC Chairman and Retired Colonel Mahan Singh, MLA Bharat Bushan, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, and SSP Mohita Sharma. They were joined by SP Ops Mukund Tibrewal, Principal PTS Manjit Kaur, and other senior civil and police officials.Beyond the formal parade, the stadium resonated with energy as students and local artists presented colorful cultural programs showcasing India’s rich heritage. The festivities concluded with an award ceremony where Satish Sharma honored the best-performing contingents and cultural participants for their dedication and talent.

The event underscored a collective commitment to national progress, with retired personnel and citizens from all walks of life joining the administration to celebrate the strength of the Indian Republic.
