KATHUA, DECEMBER 25, 2025: In an engaging start to the Kathua Admin Cup Tournament, DC XI secured a 24-run win over Agriculture XI in an opening friendly cricket match defined by a spirited all-round performance.
Batting first, DC XI set a competitive target of 139 runs for the loss of eight wickets within their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Additional Deputy Commissioner Vishavjeet Singh, who delivered a top score of 45 runs, supported by steady contributions from Arun Malhotra and Rajinder Digra. Despite an effective bowling effort from Agriculture XI’s Mukesh and Pankaj Andotra—who claimed three wickets each—and sharp work behind the stumps by Chief Sheep Husbandry Officer R.K. Manhas, the target proved formidable.
In response, Agriculture XI launched a valiant chase but was eventually restricted to 115 runs by a clinical DC XI bowling attack. Amit Gupta and Sanjay led the scoring for Agriculture XI, but their momentum was halted by Ranjit Thakur’s decisive three-wicket spell.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma and teammate Arun further pressured the opposition by picking up two wickets apiece, while wicketkeeper Pankush Prashar showcased quick reflexes with a key stumping. This comprehensive team effort allowed DC XI to clinch the match by 24 runs, setting a high standard for sportsmanship and departmental coordination in the tournament.
