Kashmir Weather Alert: Heavy Snowfall Predicted for Gulmarg and Pahalgam; Rainfall to Lash Plains
SRINAGAR,March 15, 2026 — The Meteorological Department (MeT) has issued a fresh weather advisory predicting heavy snowfall across the upper reaches of the Kashmir Valley over the next 12 to 18 hours.
Popular tourist destinations and high-altitude areas, including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Doodhpathri, and Pahalgam, are expected to see significant snow accumulation ranging from 6 inches to 2 feet.
While the mountains brace for a winter surge, the plains of Kashmir are forecasted to receive moderate to heavy rain showers during the same period.
Residents and travelers are advised to exercise caution as the inclement weather may impact surface and air transportation.
According to MeT officials, a gradual improvement in the overall weather conditions is anticipated by tomorrow afternoon across the region.
