Kashmir FCS&CA Intensifies Petroleum Monitoring; 2,427 Inspections Conducted to Curb Hoarding

SRINAGAR, April 04, 2026: Amid concerns over the impact of the West Asia crisis on global supply chains, the Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) in Kashmir has significantly ramped up its monitoring of petroleum and LPG availability.

Since March 19, 2026, the department has executed 2,427 targeted inspections across the valley to prevent artificial scarcities.

These enforcement drives have successfully detected 14 cases of hoarding and six instances of black marketing, resulting in the seizure of 108 LPG cylinders and the imposition of fines totaling Rs 40,500.

The Directorate has further issued strict directives to Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to maintain robust buffer stocks at all distribution points to ensure the public faces no disruptions in essential fuel delivery.

To reinforce consumer protection, the department has established dedicated helplines and urged citizens to report any irregularities or price gouging directly to their respective Assistant Directors. This intensified oversight aims to provide a transparent and equitable distribution system during the current period of supply chain sensitivity.

By maintaining a constant field presence, the FCS&CA remains committed to safeguarding consumer interests and ensuring that both petroleum and LPG products remain accessible and fairly priced for all households across the Kashmir Division.
