Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Dismisses Fuel Shortage Rumors: Ample Petrol, Diesel, and LPG Stocks Confirmed for Ramadan and Eid
SRINAGAR, KASHMIR — March 11, 2026: Addressing growing public concern, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, held a press conference on Wednesday to assure citizens that the Kashmir division maintains a robust supply of essential petroleum products, effectively ruling out the need for panic buying.
According to official data, the region currently holds a surplus of over 15 days of petrol and diesel, while approximately 13 days of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) remain readily available.
Garg emphasized that the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs is conducting daily monitoring of these stocks, noting that the division’s total storage infrastructure is optimized to sustain the population for up to 20 days at maximum capacity.
To prevent unnecessary chaos at fueling stations and distribution outlets, the Divisional Commissioner urged the public to rely strictly on official government communiqués rather than unverified rumors.
He specifically clarified that while certain regulatory restrictions have been implemented for commercial LPG usage, these measures do not impact domestic consumers, hospitals, or educational institutions, ensuring an uninterrupted supply for essential services.
With the holy month of Ramadan currently underway and Eid-ul-Fitr approaching, the administration has intensified market inspections through food safety and legal metrology teams to guarantee fair pricing and high-quality standards for all essential commodities across the valley.
Furthermore, the administration has adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward unscrupulous trade practices during this high-demand period.
District administrations have already activated dedicated control rooms and dispatched specialized enforcement teams to monitor market trends and curb any instances of hoarding or black marketing.
Garg issued a stern warning that any individual or business found engaging in illegal price hikes or artificial supply suppression will face immediate and rigorous legal action.
This proactive stance aims to provide a stable and stress-free environment for residents as they observe religious festivities, ensuring that the supply chain remains resilient against speculative pressures.
