Kashmir Div Com Directs Comprehensive Arrangements for Shab-e-Meraj: Focus on Power, Water, and Transport at Major Shrines

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 13, 2026 — In anticipation of the upcoming observance of Shab-e-Meraj and the following Friday, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, chaired a high-level meeting today to finalize logistical arrangements for devotees across the Valley.

Directing Deputy Commissioners and senior divisional officers, the Div Com emphasized the need for a seamless experience at prominent religious sites, including Asar-e-Sharief Hazratbal, Jenab Sahib Soura, and various Ziyarats in Anantnag, Budgam, and Bandipora.

The administration’s priority is to ensure that basic amenities are robust enough to handle the large influx of worshippers expected at these spiritual landmarks.To ensure uninterrupted services, the KPDCL has been tasked with providing consistent power supply, backed by emergency generators at all major shrines.

Similarly, the PHE Department is mandated to maintain a steady water supply and station tankers at high-traffic areas like Hazratbal. For ease of movement, the SRTC and Srinagar Smart City Limited will deploy additional bus fleets on key routes.

Traffic management and security grids are also being tightened to prevent congestion and ensure public safety during the late-night and early-morning prayers.Sanitation and infrastructure were also key points of discussion, with the SMC and ULBs directed to launch special cleaning drives.

The J&K Waqf Board was instructed to install waterproof tents at Hazratbal and other districts to protect devotees from the winter elements. Concluding the meeting, Anshul Garg urged all departments to work in a coordinated manner, directing Deputy Commissioners to personally inspect readiness in their jurisdictions to guarantee a hassle-free and spiritually fulfilling observance for all citizens.
