UDHAMPUR, December 26, 2025: In a landmark verdict reinforcing the rule of law, the Udhampur Police has successfully secured a conviction and life imprisonment sentences for five individuals involved in a violent 2020 murder and attempt to murder case.
The Hon’ble Sessions Court, Udhampur, delivered the judgment following a rigorous trial based on FIR No. 135/2020 registered at Police Station Chenani. The case involved a harrowing incident where the accused forcibly entered a residence in Madda, resulting in the murder of Vijay Kumar and causing serious injuries to the complainant, Gurdip Singh.
The successful conviction is the result of a meticulous and professional investigation led by the then SHO of Police Station Chenani, Inspector Pushpinder Singh. The comprehensive charge-sheet presented by the police linked the five accused—Pahar Singh (alias Parshotam), Radha Devi, Harish Singh, Anil Singh, and Arnudh Singh (alias Rajesh)—directly to the crime.
The court found them guilty of various offenses under the Indian Penal Code, including murder (Section 302), attempt to murder (Section 307), and house-breaking (Section 458), while Anil Singh faced additional charges under the Arms Act.
The Hon’ble Sessions Court awarded rigorous life imprisonment to all five convicts, emphasizing the gravity of their actions.
