JAMMU, December 29, 2025: In a major push toward sustainable power reforms, the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), in partnership with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), launched several Demand Side Management (DSM) initiatives today.
The event, held at the Government Convention Centre under the “Capacity Building of DISCOMs” program, was inaugurated by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Power Development Department, Shailendra Kumar, with Chairperson of the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC), Raj Kumar Chaudhary, attending as the Guest of Honour.
These initiatives are designed to modernize power consumption across the Union Territory by replacing outdated appliances with energy-efficient models and promoting renewable energy adoption.Addressing the gathering, Shailendra Kumar emphasized that energy efficiency is a cornerstone of the ongoing power sector reforms, noting that DSM is essential for reducing peak demand and lowering consumer costs.
The newly launched measures include the replacement of non-star rated air conditioners and conventional fans with energy-efficient alternatives, the promotion of rooftop solar systems, and the introduction of energy audits for local industries. Chairperson Raj Kumar Chaudhary further highlighted that “energy saved is cheaper than additional generation,” praising JPDCL for its consumer-centric approach.
The event saw strong support from industrial leaders and prominent citizens, reflecting a collective commitment to making energy efficiency a shared responsibility in Jammu and Kashmir.
