KUPWARA, Feb 11, 2026 — In a heroic display of inter-agency coordination, the civil administration of Karnah successfully executed a life-saving rescue mission to evacuate a critically ill patient from the snow-choked heights of the Jabdi Bijaldhar village.
Acting on the urgent directives of the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, a joint team comprising the Indian Army, J&K Police, Health Department, and the R&B (PWD) Department battled extreme weather conditions and avalanche warnings to reach the stranded resident.
The village had been completely cut off from the Sub-Divisional Headquarters in Tangdar following a period of heavy snowfall.The operation faced a major setback early in the morning when an ambulance and police escort became immobilized by deep snow accumulation near Konagabra.
Demonstrating rapid problem-solving, the Executive Engineer of R&B PWD Tangdar deployed a JCB for immediate snow clearance, carving a path for the medical team to proceed. Under the direct field supervision of the Tehsildar Karnah, the patient was safely transitioned through the treacherous terrain and successfully admitted to SDH Tangdar for emergency medical care.
The district administration has officially commended the field staff and soldiers for their swift response in ensuring no life was lost to the harsh winter elements.
