Jammu January 01, 2026 :- The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially announced the discontinuation of the old syllabus for all failure and re-appear candidates across secondary and higher secondary levels. Previously, students who failed or were required to re-appear in their Class 10, 11, or 12 examinations were permitted to take tests under the old scheme of studies.
However, the Board has now declared that this old curriculum has outlived its validity. Consequently, no further opportunities will be provided to sit for examinations under the legacy scheme, marking a complete transition to the updated national educational standards.
In a notification issued well in advance, JKBOSE has advised all concerned candidates to immediately switch over and prepare according to the new syllabus for the upcoming Annual Private and Bi-annual examinations scheduled for later this year.
This change will take effect following the conclusion of the regular summer zone examinations and the declaration of annual results. Board officials noted that the number of students remaining under the old scheme is currently insignificant, making this the ideal time for a synchronized academic curriculum across the Union Territory.
Students are encouraged to obtain the latest textbooks and study materials to ensure they are aligned with the new examination patterns for 2026 and beyond.
