SRINAGAR | February 3, 2026 The Meteorological (MeT) Department has issued a fresh J&K weather forecast, predicting intermittent light rain and snow across many parts of Jammu and Kashmir starting today, February 3rd.
Under the influence of a weak Western Disturbance, the region is expected to remain generally cloudy with precipitation likely at scattered to widespread locations, particularly in the mid and higher reaches. While today marks a wet spell, a brief period of improvement is anticipated between February 4th and February 6th, with conditions remaining mostly dry until Friday evening.
However, residents should prepare for a return of light snow at isolated higher elevations towards the night of February 6th and early morning of February 7th.Looking ahead, the weather is expected to stabilize temporarily on February 8th before another minor disturbance brings light rain and snow to a few places on February 9th and 10th.
Consequently, a formal weather advisory has been issued for travelers and residents in high-altitude zones. Transporters are strongly urged to verify the status of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and other major mountain passes with traffic units before starting their journey.
Additionally, people living in snow-bound higher reaches are cautioned to avoid sloppy and avalanche-prone areas to ensure safety during this period of fluctuating temperatures and snowfall.
