J&K Weather Forecast: Dry Spell to Persist Until Late February with Rising Temperatures
SRINAGAR, Feb 16, 2026 — The Meteorological Centre (MeT) Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting a predominantly dry spell across the Union Territory through the remainder of February.
While a weak Western Disturbance may bring light snow to isolated higher reaches on February 17, the overall forecast indicates no major rain or snowfall activity for the next ten days.
Skies are expected to remain generally clear to partly cloudy between February 18 and 24, providing a significant window of stable weather following the intermittent winter disturbances earlier this month.
As the region transitions toward the end of the winter season, the MeT office predicts a gradual rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures over the coming week.
However, a slight shift in conditions is anticipated toward the end of the month; February 27 and 28 may see increased cloud cover with a possibility of light snow in the high-altitude regions. Looking ahead to early March, the department suggests that cloudy skies and isolated high-altitude flurries will likely continue, though no heavy precipitation is currently on the horizon. In light of the stable conditions, the department has issued an Agro-Met advisory encouraging farmers to continue their field operations and agricultural activities.
Conversely, a safety warning remains in place for the general public residing in snow-bound higher reaches, advising against venturing into sloping or avalanche-prone areas. Travelers and residents are urged to remain vigilant and stay updated on local weather developments as temperatures begin to climb.
