SRINAGAR, Feb 23, 2026 — The Meteorological (MeT) Department in Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting a predominantly dry spell across the Union Territory through the remainder of February.
According to the latest forecast, no major rain or snowfall is expected over the next several days, with generally dry conditions prevailing from February 23 to 26. While the sky is likely to turn cloudy toward the month’s end, only light rain or snow is anticipated at isolated locations on February 27 and 28.
This trend is expected to continue into the first week of March, with isolated precipitation likely between March 1 and 3, followed by partly cloudy skies through March 7.In addition to the dry outlook, the MeT department has forecast a further rise in both minimum and maximum temperatures, with an expected increase of 1-2°C at most places over the next five days.
This warming trend comes on the heels of record-breaking heat in the region, including Srinagar’s warmest February day on record.
In light of the stable weather conditions, an official advisory has been issued for the agricultural community, encouraging farmers to continue their seasonal farm operations without interruption.
While the daytime warmth offers a respite from the winter chill, residents are advised to stay updated on shifting climatic patterns as the region transitions into March.
