J&K Weather Forecast: Dry Spell to Continue with Occasional Light Snow in Higher Reaches Until mid-February
SRINAGAR, February 07, 2026 — The Meteorological Department (MET) in Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting a period of mostly dry weather interspersed with brief spells of precipitation through mid-month.
According to the latest forecast, the region will remain generally dry on February 7th and 8th, followed by a slight shift toward nightfall on February 9th, when light rain or snow may occur at a few higher reaches. Conditions are expected to turn generally cloudy on February 10th, bringing the possibility of light rain, snow, and gusty winds to many areas.
While partial cloudiness and isolated precipitation may persist into February 11th, a dry spell is forecasted to return from February 12th to 13th.
Another brief period of cloudiness and isolated higher-altitude snow is possible on February 14th, followed by partly to generally cloudy conditions through February 16th.
Despite these minor fluctuations, the MET department clarified that no major rain or snow events are anticipated across the Union Territory until February 16th. In light of the changing conditions, authorities have issued an advisory urging travelers and transporters to verify road and highway status with relevant traffic units before embarking on journeys.
Additionally, the public residing in or traveling through snow-bound higher reaches is strongly cautioned against venturing into sloped or avalanche-prone areas to ensure safety.
