J&K Weather Alert: MET Srinagar Forecasts Rain, Snow, and Gusty Winds Through March 30
SRINAGAR, March 28, 2026 — The Meteorological (MeT) Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting a spell of unsettled conditions starting tonight.
According to the official forecast shared on X, the region is expected to witness intermittent light to moderate rain, snowfall, and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds across most locations from the night of March 28 through March 30.
The disturbance is expected to taper off by March 31, with light rain or snow likely at only a few places, followed by partly cloudy skies during the first two days of April.
However, another brief spell of light precipitation is anticipated at scattered locations between April 3 and April 4.In light of these predictions, the MeT department has issued a formal advisory warning of moderate snowfall in higher reaches and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph.
Due to the risk of lightning and sudden weather shifts, farmers across the Union Territory have been strongly advised to suspend all farm operations for the duration of this wet spell.
Additionally, travelers are urged to strictly adhere to administrative and traffic advisories, planning their journeys with caution to avoid disruptions caused by potential landslides or snow accumulation on high-altitude passes.
