JAMMU/SRINAGAR, JANUARY 27, 2026: In response to severe weather conditions and massive snow accumulation, the Traffic Police Headquarters J&K has issued a fresh travel advisory confirming the total closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) for Wednesday, January 28.
Due to continuous snowfall between Nachlana and Qazigund, authorities have announced that no vehicular movement will be permitted from Nagrota (Jammu) toward Srinagar/Banihal or vice-versa. To facilitate local movement, commuters from Katra, Reasi, Udhampur, Ramban, and Doda are required to carry valid photo identification.
Additionally, key arterial routes including the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244, the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) road, and the Mughal Road remain strictly closed due to heavy snow.
Travelers are urged to verify road status via official social media handles or by contacting Traffic Control Units (TCUs) in Jammu, Srinagar, and Ramban before attempting any journey.
