JAMMU, January 14, 2026 — Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today officially flagged off the Jammu & Kashmir Tableau contingent during a ceremony at K.L. Saigal Hall, Jammu.
These artists are set to represent the Union Territory at the prestigious Republic Day Parade 2026 on Kartavya Path, New Delhi. The event took place in the presence of Principal Secretary of the Culture Department, Brij Mohan Sharma, and senior officials from the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).
The 2026 tableau is designed as a vibrant fusion of the region’s legendary handicrafts and spirited folk traditions. It features a comprehensive showcase of refined craftsmanship, including Pashmina weaving, walnut wood carving, carpet weaving, copperware, and Basohli miniature paintings.
The visual journey begins with a grand engraved Samovar, a traditional symbol of Kashmiri hospitality, and incorporates imagery of houseboats and classic wooden architecture.Central to the display is the Dogra Chhajja performance on a village Thadda, illustrating community life and cultural continuity.
The tableau is brought to life by a medley of folk dances, including Rouf, Kud, Jagarna, Pahari, Gojri, and Dumhal. Concluding with a display of colorful papier-mâché artifacts in a willow basket, the presentation aims to project Jammu & Kashmir as a living canvas of creativity and heritage on the national stage.
