Accused sentenced to 10 years imprisonment
Ganderbal 06 October:- In a significant judgment reflecting the firm commitment of J&K Police towards ensuring justice to victims of sexual offences, the Hon’ble Principal and District Session Court Ganderbal has convicted Ulfat Ahmad Magray son of Ghulam Rasool Magray resident of Khanan Kangan, in a case registered under FIR No. 24/2020 of Police Station Kangan.
The case was registered under Sections 376, 506 IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act. After a thorough investigation by the Police and subsequent trial, the Court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 1,000 for the offence punishable under Section 4 of the POCSO Act.
This conviction underscores the steadfast efforts of J&K Police in bringing perpetrators of heinous crimes to justice, particularly in cases involving crimes against minors. The investigation team worked diligently to ensure a watertight case, resulting in this important conviction.
