J&K Police Launch 2026 Cartoon Calendar to Target Social Crimes and Drug Abuse
JAMMU, January 19, 2026: In a unique creative initiative to promote social responsibility, Shiv Kumar, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range), officially unveiled the Jammu & Kashmir Police Calendar 2026 today.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Sanjay Kumar Sharma (SO to DIG JSK Range), Amit Bhasin (SSP Traffic Jammu), and other key members of the department. This 12-page calendar utilizes the power of visual storytelling, featuring artwork by Chandrashekhar, an internationally acclaimed cartoonist with 30 years of experience in social advocacy.
Far from being a traditional calendar, each page serves as a stern warning and a public message aimed at lawbreakers and those ignoring their civic duties. A primary focus of the publication is the protection of the youth from the menace of narcotics.
It highlights the aggressive measures taken under “Operation Sanjeevani,” showcasing the police’s success in dismantling drug smuggling networks and penalizing those involved in the illicit trade.Beyond the fight against drugs, the calendar illustrates the department’s unwavering stance against terrorism and contemporary social hazards.
It specifically addresses the deadly use of Chinese kite strings (Gattu), which poses a lethal threat to citizens every year, and the rising issue of underage bike stunting and public harassment.
By depicting the firm legal actions taken against the harassment of women and minors, the J&K Police aims to foster a safer, more disciplined environment while showcasing their fearless commitment to public service.
