SRINAGAR, January 30, 2026 — Intensifying its war against the drug menace, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested six drug peddlers in a series of targeted operations across the valley, recovering significant quantities of contraband and psychotropic substances.
In Anantnag, a police team at Achabal Chowk intercepted a vehicle (JK03C-4157) and apprehended Arif Ramzan Mir after recovering 16 grams of heroin.
Simultaneously, in Pulwama, a routine checkpoint at Hawal Bridge led to the interception of a Mahindra Thar (UP38 AK 7313) carrying two residents of Uttar Pradesh, Mohd Fahad and Aman, who were found in possession of 11 bottles of Codeine Phosphate.
The crackdown extended to Sopore, where follow-up investigations into an existing NDPS case led to the arrest of two more suspects, Mohd Umar Dar and Nisar Ahmad Bhat. Based on their disclosures, authorities recovered a substantial cache of Codeine Phosphate.
In a separate incident at the Hadipora Crossing, police tactfully apprehended Farooq Ahmad Malla as he attempted to flee, recovering a quantity of charas from his possession.
All accused individuals are currently in custody, and the vehicles involved in these crimes have been seized. The J&K Police have reaffirmed their zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and urge the public to cooperate in their ongoing mission to safeguard the youth from drug abuse.
