J&K Police Bridges Gap with Youth, Organizes Educational Tour for 190 Students in Katra Police station
Reasi/Katra, October 16: In a move towards instilling confidence and transparency, the Jammu and Kashmir Police organized an educational tour for school students at the Police Station Katra today.
As many as 190 students from Delhi Public School participated in the event with the aim of dispelling myths about police activities and establishing a greater rapport with the younger generation. The main aim of the visit was to give the students an overall view of the operations and duties of the police force.
The session included various important topics, starting with an overview of Police Station Operations, where the officers briefed them on day-to-day administration and procedural processes. A firsthand exposure was provided to the students regarding the equipment and weapons handled by the law enforcement agencies, accompanied by a demonstration and an educational session on their use and significance.
A point of note in the visit was a closer examination of the recent surveillance technology used by the police. Authorities explained the operation of the large CCTV surveillance network that observes and assists in ensuring security across Katra town.
In addition, the exchange discussed other vital components of policing such as the work of community policing in ensuring law and order. Significantly, the police did not miss out on the chance to create awareness on two escalating societal evils: drug menace and cyber crimes, training the students on prevention and the resultant legal consequences.
