SHOPIAN, JANUARY 04, 2026: Continuing its intensive crackdown on narcotics, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a suspected drug peddler in Shopian today as part of a mission to eradicate substance abuse from the region.
During a targeted operation at a checkpoint established at Nadigam Junction, a police team from the Shopian Police Station intercepted an individual acting suspiciously. The suspect has been identified as Gh Mohi-ud-Din Mochi, a resident of Nadigam.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the individual, authorities recovered approximately 495 grams of a substance resembling charas from his possession.
Following the recovery, the Shopian Police officially registered a case under FIR No. 02/2026, invoking the relevant sections of the law. A formal investigation has been initiated to trace the origin of the contraband and identify any further links in the local drug supply chain.
The J&K Police have reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to maintaining a drug-free society, urging citizens to support this initiative by reporting any information regarding drug peddling or abuse to the nearest police station to ensure a safer community for all.
