J&K Minister Javed Ahmed Rana Calls for Bold Youth Participation in Democracy at Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026
JAMMU March 25, 2026:- The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today hosted the high-profile UT-level round of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament (VBYP) 2026, a flagship initiative organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, attended the event as the Chief Guest, where he advocated for the active and bold engagement of young citizens in India’s democratic processes.
The Minister highlighted that the Youth Parliament serves as a vital training ground to nurture leadership, enhance civic awareness, and promote informed policy engagement among individuals aged 18 to 25.
He emphasized that such platforms are essential for allowing the next generation to articulate their perspectives and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s journey toward becoming a developed country.
The 2026 edition of the VBYP follows a competitive three-tier format, progressing from District to State/UT and finally to the National level. The JK-Round featured elite young orators from across the region’s districts, who demonstrated exceptional critical thinking and leadership skills.
Under the theme, “Union Budget 2026: Strengthening the Indian Youth’s Path Towards Viksit Bharat 2047,” participants engaged in rigorous brainstorming sessions and presentations.
The deliberations focused on how the latest fiscal policies could be leveraged to fuel innovation, inclusive growth, and youth empowerment, reflecting a sophisticated understanding of the budget’s role in shaping a sustainable future for India.
The event concluded with the announcement that the top three performers from this round would earn the prestigious opportunity to represent Jammu and Kashmir at the National Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament.
The ceremony saw the presence of several dignitaries, including MLA Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal and Director Nisar Bhat, alongside a distinguished jury panel comprising Sunaina Mehta, Prof. Mushtaq Wani, and Simarjeet Singh.
By providing a structured stage for youth to weigh in on national priorities, the government reaffirmed its commitment to placing the aspirations of young Indians at the heart of the “Viksit Bharat” vision.
