J&K Legislative Assembly Modernization: Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather Fast-Tracks Paperless ‘NeVA’ Project
JAMMU, MARCH 28, 2026: In a major move toward digital governance, the Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, today chaired a meeting of the High Level Apex Committee (HLAC) to accelerate the implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA).
The meeting, attended by prominent MLAs including Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi and Tanvir Sadiq, alongside senior IT and NIC officials, focused on transitioning the Assembly’s operations into a completely paperless and digital environment.
Speaker Rather emphasized that the timely integration of NeVA is essential for modernizing legislative processes, ensuring that both the Jammu and Srinagar Assembly complexes are equipped with the latest technological infrastructure to support transparent and efficient lawmaking.
To ensure the project meets its upcoming deadlines, the Speaker issued strict directives to expedite the procurement of critical hardware and high-speed network equipment.
He urged seamless coordination between the Information Technology department and the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to resolve any technical bottlenecks.
By adopting the NeVA platform, the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly aims to eliminate physical paperwork, allowing members to access bills, committee reports, and daily agendas through a unified digital interface.
This transition is expected to not only save administrative costs but also enhance the accessibility of legislative data for the public and policymakers alike.
