J&K Infrastructure Update: No Inquiry Ordered into 4th Tawi Bridge Construction, Confirms Deputy CM
JAMMU, February 04, 2026 — Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary clarified in the Legislative Assembly today that no official inquiry has been initiated against the executing agency responsible for the construction of the 4th Tawi Bridge.
Responding to a question raised by Legislator Sham Lal Sharma, the Deputy CM cited reports from the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, the Chief Engineer of PWD (R&B), and the Managing Director of JKPCC, confirming that the main structure of the bridge has remained resilient despite recent weather events. He explained that while recent floods in Jammu caused damage to the bridge’s approaches, the core structural components stayed entirely intact.
Detailing the project’s history, Choudhary noted that the ₹93.12 crore project was awarded to JKPCC in 2010 and executed by the lowest bidder, M/S S.P. Singla Construction Private Limited, on a turnkey basis for ₹67.088 crore.
Completed on schedule and inaugurated in 2013, the bridge previously withstood the catastrophic 2014 floods without damage, underscoring the government’s stance that the current issues are limited to peripheral access points rather than the bridge’s structural integrity.
