J&K Health Minister Sakeena Itoo Fast-Tracks 50-Bed Hospital Block and Dialysis Unit in Sunderbani

SUNDERBANI, February 18, 2026 — Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upgrading healthcare infrastructure by announcing that the construction of a new 50-bedded additional block and a dedicated Dialysis Unit at SDH Sunderbani is being executed on a war footing.

Responding to a query from Legislator Randhir Singh in the House, the Minister detailed a comprehensive financial roadmap for the region, noting that ₹424 lakh has been earmarked for three critical healthcare projects during the current fiscal year.

These include the Sunderbani expansions and the installation of a 5 KLD Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) at Government CHC Kalakote in Rajouri. Out of the ₹361.90 lakh already released by the Finance Department, a significant expenditure of ₹300 lakh has been utilized to date, ensuring steady physical progress on the ground.

The Minister highlighted that the ongoing works are under rigorous monitoring to bypass any potential bottlenecks and ensure strict adherence to completion timelines.

Currently, tile and electrical installations are reaching advanced stages on the second floor of the Sunderbani facility, while mechanical works are being expedited simultaneously. Additionally, the Minister informed the House that the allotment process for the ETP at CHC Kalakote is currently underway.

By maintaining a close watch on these projects and coordinating directly with executing agencies, the department aims to enhance the medical capacity of the Rajouri district, providing modern healthcare facilities to the local population without further delay.
