J&K Government Terminates Three Employees Over Alleged Involvement in Anti-National Activities

Srinagar, March 10, 2026: In a major administrative crackdown, the Government of Jammu & Kashmir has ordered the immediate “disengagement” of three employees from the Jal Shakti Department for their alleged involvement in anti-national and subversive activities.

According to official government orders issued on March 9, 2026, by Shaleen Kabra (IAS), Financial Commissioner of the Jal Shakti Department, the decision was taken “in the interest of administration” following adverse reports from the Home Department.

The terminated individuals include Showkat Ahmad Zargar, a Daily Rated Wager (DRW) from Bijbehara, Anantnag; Liyaqat Ali Bhagwan, a Need Based Casual Labourer (NBCL) from Kishtwar; and Kousar Hussain Bhagwan, also a Need Based Casual Labourer from Kishtwar.

The official orders (Nos. 41, 42, and 43-JK(JSD) of 2026) cite the registration of FIRs dating back to 2019 under various stringent laws, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Arms Act, and the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).

The allegations against the trio include involvement in terrorist acts, conspiracy, harboring terrorists, and providing support to terrorist organizations.

Specifically, Liyaqat Ali and Kousar Hussain were linked to FIR No. 230/2019, while Showkat Ahmad was tied to FIR No. 53/2019.

In all three cases, chargesheets have already been filed, and the matters are currently under trial. Copies of the termination orders have been forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi, as well as the offices of the Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister of J&K, signaling a coordinated effort to maintain internal security within government departments.
