JAMMU, February 12, 2026 — In a major push for economic revitalization, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced an ambitious target to create 50,000 private sector jobs over the next four years.
Speaking outside the Assembly complex on Thursday, Minister Satish Sharma emphasized that employment generation is the cornerstone of the Omar Abdullah-led administration’s agenda, focusing on transforming the Union Territory into a hub for industrial and corporate growth.To achieve this goal, the government is actively working to enhance the ease of doing business and attract high-profile investments.
Minister Sharma revealed that the administration is in talks to bring global tech giants, including Google and Microsoft, to Jammu and Kashmir. These efforts are designed to open up new horizons in the IT and services sectors, providing local youth with competitive career opportunities within their home region.
Addressing long-standing labor concerns, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s pledge to regularize daily wagers within one year. He noted that specific policy interventions are currently being finalized to provide a permanent resolution to their grievances.
Additionally, in a move to support job seekers, the government is reviewing the examination fees charged by the JKSSB to alleviate the financial strain on unemployed youth.On the sensitive issue of the return of Kashmiri Pandits, Sharma expressed a strong desire for their homecoming, framing it as a vital step for regional unity.
He condemned external efforts to create division and called for a collaborative spirit between the central leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The Minister concluded by stressing that collective unity and commitment are essential to building a prosperous and secure future for all residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
