JAMMU, February 12, 2026 — In a fresh administrative reshuffle, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the immediate posting of Athar Amin Zargar, a senior JKAS officer, to a key position within the state’s executive framework.
According to a formal order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) at the Civil Secretariat, the appointment is aimed at streamlining administrative functions in the interest of the public and the state.
Athar Amin Zargar, who was previously awaiting orders of adjustment within the General Administration Department, has now been officially posted as Additional Secretary to the Government, Home Department.
The order, designated as Government Order No. 194-JK(GAD) of 2026, was issued by the direction of the Lieutenant Governor and carries immediate effect.The official directive was signed by M. Raju (IAS), Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, and has been circulated to all high-ranking officials, including the Director General of Police, J&K, and the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, to ensure a smooth transition of duties.
This strategic placement within the Home Department is expected to bolster the department’s administrative capacity during a busy legislative period in the Union Territory.
