J&K Forest Minister Javed Ahmed Rana Outlines Modernization Reforms for Forest Development Corporation
JAMMU, March 4, 2026 — In a strategic move to overhaul the state’s forestry operations, a high-level delegation led by former Minister Abdul Majid Wani and Ghulam Mustafa met today with the Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, to advocate for comprehensive reforms within the Jammu and Kashmir Forest Development Corporation (J&K FDC).
During the deliberation, the delegation highlighted critical operational gaps, urging the government to implement scientific timber extraction processes, more rigorous quality control mechanisms, and a transparent digital sale system to eliminate middleman interference. The discussions centered on modernizing administrative procedures to ensure a consistent supply of premium timber while simultaneously boosting state revenue and safeguarding the interests of local contractors.
Minister Rana, after providing a patient hearing to the suggestions, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to institutional accountability and promised a time-bound redressal of all grievances.
He emphasized that future reforms will prioritize sustainable livelihoods for forest dwellers through community-led value addition and environmentally responsible initiatives, ensuring the J&K FDC operates as a modern, efficient, and eco-conscious entity.
