J&K Fiscal Reform: Government Clears ₹18,382 Crore in Outstanding Liabilities and GPF Claims
SRINAGAR, March 31, 2026 — In a major move toward fiscal transparency and economic stability, the Chief Minister informed the Assembly today that the Jammu and Kashmir government has cleared massive liabilities totaling ₹18,382 crore.
This comprehensive financial settlement includes ₹12,561 crore dedicated to resolving pending bills—such as gratuity, commutation, leave salaries, and long-standing contractor payments—all successfully processed up to March 27, 2026. Furthermore, the administration has disbursed ₹5,821 crore to settle General Provident Fund (GPF) claims, providing significant relief to retired and serving public servants.
Reaffirming the government’s dedication to structural financial health, the Chief Minister emphasized that ensuring regular, timely payments to both employees and contractors remains a top priority, underscoring a renewed administrative focus on strict fiscal discipline and public accountability across the Union Territory.
