J&K Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Decries ACB Raid on Brother’s Residence as Political Vendetta

JAMMU, February 25, 2026 — An emotional Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary has broken his silence following a high-profile raid by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at the residence of his brother, Vijay Choudhary, a Deputy Superintendent (DySP) in the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The early Wednesday morning operation, conducted as part of an investigation into disproportionate assets, prompted a sharp response from the Deputy CM, who described the action as a targeted attempt at political harassment.

Deputy CM stated that as sons of an Army veteran, they have built their lives and assets “brick by brick” through decades of honest labor and merit. He expressed deep anguish over the proceedings, asserting that questioning the integrity of his family’s hard-earned property is both unfortunate and unjust.

In a poignant defense of his brother’s professional record, the Deputy Chief Minister highlighted Vijay Choudhary’s bravery in the line of duty, noting that the DySP has spent years fighting on the front lines against terrorism in some of the region’s most dangerous areas.

He argued that it is deeply unfair to subject a decorated officer—who served in zones where ordinary citizens feared to tread—to such treatment. While the ACB’s action is officially framed as part of a broader crackdown on corruption within the Union Territory, the Deputy CM has characterized the move as an act of political retribution.
