J&K Conman Posing as NIA Officer Arrested Near Red Fort for Job Fraud
NEW DELHI, Feb 19: A man from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, was apprehended by the Delhi Police near the Red Fort for allegedly impersonating a National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer to defraud job seekers.
The suspect, identified as Mudassar, was intercepted by a patrolling team from the Kotwali police station after his vehicle—a black Hyundai Santro with J&K registration—was spotted under suspicious circumstances near Delhi Chalo Park. Upon questioning, Mudassar presented a forged NIA identity card, which immediately raised red flags, leading to his detention alongside a minor found in his company.
Investigation revealed that Mudassar targeted economically vulnerable families in Jammu and Kashmir, promising lucrative employment in the capital in exchange for cash. He had reportedly taken an advance payment from the minor’s family under the guise of securing him a job.
After arriving in Delhi on February 13 and staying at a Jama Masjid guest house, the accused failed to provide any legitimate proof of his professional claims or job arrangements. Following a joint interrogation by the Special Cell and the Intelligence Bureau, officials confirmed the identity card was a fake.
A criminal case has been registered, and authorities are currently investigating the full scale of his fraudulent activities.
