J&K Chief Secretary Reviews Fuel and Fertilizer Stocks Amid West Asia Crisis; Directs Strict Action Against Hoarding

JAMMU, April 02, 2026:-In response to the evolving geopolitical situation in West Asia, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today chaired a high-level review meeting to ensure the seamless supply and distribution of LPG, fuel, and fertilizers across Jammu and Kashmir.

Attended by Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, and representatives from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), the meeting focused on maintaining supply chain resilience to prevent any local shortages.

The Chief Secretary directed OMCs to provide Deputy Commissioners with real-time digital access to tracking portals, ensuring that LPG deliveries in both rural and urban areas strictly adhere to prescribed timelines.

Furthermore, he emphasized that critical institutions—including hospitals, universities, and hostels—as well as infrastructure projects employing migrant laborers, must receive priority fuel and commodity allocations.

The administration reported a stable stock position, with both Jammu and Kashmir divisions maintaining approximately 15 days of LPG and up to 19 days of petrol and diesel, with significant additional supplies currently in transit.

Commissioner Secretary FCS&CA, Saurabh Bhagat, highlighted that 100% of domestic LPG demand is being met, while the department is simultaneously working to expand the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network.

To safeguard consumer interests, the Chief Secretary reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against black marketing and overcharging, noting that enforcement teams have already conducted nearly 2,000 inspections, resulting in the sealing of several gas agencies and the filing of FIRs.

Citizens are urged to remain calm and avoid panic buying, as the government has launched an intensive communication campaign to counter misinformation and ensure the steady availability of all essential goods.
