JAMMU, Feb 05, 2026 – Strengthening the athletic landscape of the Union Territory, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has released over ₹137 crore for the upgradation of sports infrastructure during the 2025-26 financial year.
While responding to a query raised by legislator Chander Parkash Ganga in the Legislative Assembly, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, detailed that ₹150 crore has been approved under the Capex budget for the sports sector.
Of this allocation, ₹56.57 crore has already been expended as of December 2025 to fast-track the development of modern facilities across the region.The Minister specifically highlighted a dedicated investment of ₹3.31 crore for the Samba district, with ₹2.57 crore already released during the current fiscal year.
Key projects highlighted in the Vijaypur constituency include the development of the Katwalta Purmandal playfield, the installation of chain-link fencing for the synthetic handball court at Government High School Tarore, and the construction of a new playground at Rahya Morh.
Additionally, progress is being made on the Birpur Sports Stadium and a specialized kickboxing ring at Panchayat Bagla Rahya, reflecting the government’s commitment to nurturing local talent through grassroots infrastructure.
