JAMMU, FEBRUARY 07, 2026: In a firm commitment to infrastructure excellence, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary informed the Legislative Assembly today that the government will not compromise on the quality of macadamization and road projects across the Union Territory.
Responding to a query by Legislator Mubarik Gul, the Deputy CM asserted that a strict oversight mechanism is in place to ensure contractors adhere to top-tier specifications, explicitly stating that payments are withheld if substandard materials are detected.
To foster local accountability and better planning, district-level officers have been instructed to consult with local Legislators during the formulation of all future road projects and macadamization plans.
Highlighting the administration’s recent progress, the Deputy Chief Minister revealed that 344.32 kilometres of road length have already been successfully macadamized or black-topped during the 2025-26 period.
He further explained that while the roadmap for the upcoming financial year is currently being drafted, the finalization of new projects under various sectors depends on the budget ceilings yet to be issued by the Finance Department.
During the session, Legislator Chander Prakash Ganga also raised supplementary questions regarding regional connectivity, to which the Deputy CM responded by reiterating that the government’s focus remains on the durability and timely completion of all public works to ensure maximum benefit for the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.
