J&K Budget Session 2026: Lieutenant Governor Grants Assent to Three Vital Appropriation Bills Passed by Legislative Assembly

JAMMU, March 30, 2026: In a significant development for the fiscal administration of the Union Territory, the Secretary of the Legislative Assembly, Manoj Kumar Pandit, officially informed the House today that the Lieutenant Governor has granted his formal assent to three key legislative measures.

The announcement, made during the ongoing proceedings of the 2026 Budget Session, confirms that the Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation Bills—specifically LA Bill No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 of 2026—received the Lieutenant Governor’s signature on March 27, 2026.

These bills, which were previously debated and passed by the Legislative Assembly, are essential for authorizing the government to withdraw necessary funds from the Consolidated Fund to meet various expenditure requirements for the upcoming financial period.

By securing this executive approval, the administration has cleared a critical constitutional hurdle, ensuring that public spending and developmental projects can proceed without interruption across Jammu and Kashmir.
