J&K Budget Session 2026: CM Omar Abdullah Tables Key CAG Audit Reports and Finance Accounts in Legislative Assembly
JAMMU, March 30, 2026: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in his capacity as the Minister for Finance, formally presented a comprehensive set of financial and audit documents before the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly during the ongoing Budget Session.
The tabled documents include seven critical reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, providing a rigorous evaluation of various sectors within the Union Territory.
Among the highlighted submissions are performance audits focusing on public health infrastructure, the operational functioning of the University of Jammu, and the conservation and management of lakes across the region.
These reports, covering periods ending in March 2022 and March 2023, offer a detailed look at civil, revenue, and public sector undertaking (PSU) compliance, ensuring legislative oversight of executive spending and performance.
In addition to the audit findings, the Chief Minister laid the Finance Accounts (Volumes I and II) and the Appropriation Accounts for the 2024–25 financial year. These documents serve as the definitive record of the Union Territory’s actual receipts and expenditures, allowing the House to compare sanctioned budgets against real-world utilization.
The tabling of these reports is a statutory requirement aimed at maintaining fiscal transparency and accountability within the government.
By bringing these detailed audits into the public record, the administration facilitates a deeper debate on the efficiency of public service delivery and the management of Jammu and Kashmir’s natural and academic resources.
