J&K BJP President Sat Sharma Slams Congress for Spreading Misinformation on International Trade and Farmer Interests
SRINAGAR, February 20, 2026: Sat Sharma, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, chaired a high-level organizational meeting in Srinagar to review party initiatives and grassroots connectivity.
Accompanied by General Secretary Anwar Khan and other senior functionaries, Sharma emphasized the need to strengthen the party’s booth-level structure and directed activists to intensify public outreach regarding the Central Government’s achievements.
While comparing fiscal policies, he praised the Union Budget for its focus on inclusive growth and youth empowerment, while criticizing the local NC government’s budget for failing to address pressing public concerns.A significant portion of the address was dedicated to countering opposition narratives regarding international trade deals.
Sharma accused the Congress party of misleading the public in J&K, asserting that the interests of Indian farmers are fully protected under current agreements. Using the apple industry as a specific example, he noted that India produces approximately 21 lakh tonnes of apples against a domestic demand of 26 lakh tonnes.
He clarified that the small quantity of apples imported from the US is purchased at higher rates, ensuring there is no actual competition for local produce. General Secretary Anwar Khan also addressed the gathering, urging proactive coordination among workers to ensure the benefits of government policies are communicated effectively to all sections of society.
