J&K Assembly Rejects Resolution for Veterinary University in Jammu During Budget Session
JAMMU, APRIL 02, 2026: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today deliberated upon and subsequently rejected a Private Member’s resolution seeking the establishment of a dedicated Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in the Jammu region.
The resolution, moved by legislator Dr. Narinder Singh Raina, framed the proposal as a strategic necessity aligned with the national vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047,” arguing that such an institution would be a vital asset for the region’s agricultural and livestock sectors.
While the motion sparked legislative interest, leading members Mir Saifullah and Nizam-ud-Din Bhat to propose specific amendments to the text, the house ultimately decided against the measure.
Following the discussion, the resolution was disallowed by a voice vote, marking a significant conclusion to the day’s proceedings regarding regional educational infrastructure.
