J&K Agriculture Minister Javid Dar Confirms 1,200 Job Referrals to JKPSC and JKSSB
Jammu, February 18, 2026 — Minister for Agriculture Production, Javid Ahmad Dar, announced today that the department has officially referred approximately 1,200 gazetted and non-gazetted vacancies to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and the Services Selection Board (JKSSB) to ensure the timely filling of essential positions.
While addressing the Legislative Assembly in response to a query by MLA Gulabgarh, Khurshied Ahmed, the Minister clarified that while manpower is being bolstered, there is currently no proposal to establish new Veterinary or Sheep Extension Centres in the Gulabgarh constituency or across the Union Territory.
He explained that the creation of new centers depends on rigorous feasibility criteria, including livestock density, geographical challenges, and the proximity of existing facilities. Presently, the Gulabgarh area is served by 17 Veterinary Centres and 21 Sheep Extension Centres, which the Minister noted are successfully catering to the healthcare needs of the local livestock population through strategic internal management.
To further support the region’s nomadic and migratory communities, Minister Dar highlighted the department’s proactive approach in organizing specialized Summer Camps at high-altitude pastures such as Kousarnag, Thatbal, and Chandrani.
These camps provide critical medical interventions for sheep and goat breeders during the peak grazing season. Responding to supplementary concerns regarding staff shortages during these migration periods, the Minister assured the House that adequate personnel are deployed to follow the livestock movement.
He emphasized that while the current infrastructure meets technical feasibility standards, the government remains attentive to the genuine demands of the legislators and will address any emerging gaps in service delivery or staffing in a timely and systematic manner.
