J&K Administration Reshuffle: LG Orders Major Transfers of Senior JKAS Officers
JAMMU April 13, 2026 — In a significant administrative overhaul, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the immediate transfer and posting of several senior officers of the J&K Administrative Service (JKAS).

The reshuffle, executed under the directions of the Lieutenant Governor, aims to streamline governance and enhance administrative efficiency across key departments, including the Home Department and the LG’s Secretariat.According to Government Order No. 771–JK(GAD) of 2026, issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), Ranjit Singh (JKAS), who was previously serving as Special Secretary in the Home Department, has been transferred and posted as the new Special Secretary in the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat.
In a corresponding move, Vaibhav Kohli (JKAS), who held the position of Special Secretary in the LG’s Secretariat, has been appointed as the Excise Commissioner, J&K. He replaces Subash Chander Chhibber (JKAS), who has been directed to report to the General Administration Department to await further orders regarding his next assignment.
Additionally, the administrative shake-up includes the transfer of Dr. Sunil Sharma (JKAS). Formerly the Additional Secretary to the Government in the Home Department, Dr. Sharma will now serve as Additional Secretary in the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat.
These appointments, signed by Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, M. Raju (IAS), are effective immediately and reflect the administration’s ongoing efforts to realign senior leadership within the Union Territory’s executive branch.
