J&K ACB Files Chargesheet Against Businessman for Bribing SP City South Jammu

JAMMU, DECEMBER 24, 2025: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has officially produced a chargesheet against Chander Shekhar Vohra, proprietor of M/s Asian Associates, in the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu. The legal action follows the registration of FIR No. 01/2024 under Section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Vohra is accused of attempting to bribe the then Superintendent of Police (SP), City South, Jammu, in exchange for an undue favor. Specifically, the businessman allegedly offered the bribe to secure an extension for an exhibition-cum-sale event held at Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.

The case originated from a formal complaint lodged by the SP City South, who reported that Vohra had approached her with an offer of ₹30,000 to facilitate the date extension. Acting swiftly on this information, the ACB constituted a specialized team and caught Vohra red-handed inside the SP’s office while he was handing over the bribe money. The amount was seized on the spot in the presence of independent witnesses.

Following a comprehensive investigation that established the charges, the ACB concluded the probe and submitted the case for judicial determination. This successful prosecution highlights the zero-tolerance policy of the J&K administration toward corruption and the integrity of high-ranking police officials in reporting such illicit overtures.
