J&K ACB Arrests Reasi Police Head Constable for Accepting Bribe at Talwara Post

UDHAMPUR, March 9, 2026 — The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) successfully trapped and arrested Head Constable Parvaiz Ahmed Bhati, an Investigating Officer at Police Post Talwara in District Reasi, for demanding and accepting an illegal gratification of ₹5000.

Following a formal complaint, the ACB registered FIR No. 05/2026 under Section 07 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, against Bhati, a resident of Mandhar, Poonch. The accused had allegedly demanded the bribe from a complainant in exchange for weakening a criminal case by dropping specific legal sections during the investigation.

Refusing to comply with the corrupt demand, the complainant approached the ACB, leading to a discreet verification that confirmed the allegations.

A specialized trap team, headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, caught the official red-handed while he was accepting the marked currency in the presence of independent witnesses.

The bribe money was recovered on the spot, and subsequent searches were conducted at his residential quarters in Talwara under the supervision of a Magistrate.

While the accused remains in custody, further investigation into the case is currently underway.
