Jitendra Singh Chairs DISHA Meeting in Doda: Reviews Kishtwar Development Projects and Sets Deadlines
DODA, April 8, 2026 — Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh chaired a high-level District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting today to evaluate the progress of ongoing infrastructure and welfare projects in Kishtwar district.
During the session, the Minister emphasized the critical need for improved inter-departmental coordination and strict monitoring to ensure that government benefits reach the grassroots level effectively.
Key discussions centered on enhancing regional connectivity through the development of airstrip facilities and the timely completion of roadworks under the PMGSY scheme.
Singh directed officials to maintain rigorous quality standards and adhere strictly to project timelines to boost both local tourism and transport infrastructure.
The meeting also addressed essential community concerns and local economic boosters, including the construction of cremation sheds and the rehabilitation of Kandani inhabitants affected by power projects.
Highlighting the agricultural potential of the region, Jitendra Singh called for better market linkages and branding for local produce such as kala zeera and saffron. He also focused on youth empowerment, urging officials to channelize the energy of the younger generation through “Sansad Khel” initiatives.
In the energy sector, the Power Development Department was instructed to prioritize transparency and consumer-friendly practices during the rollout of smart metering across the district.
Attended by Rajya Sabha MP Sajad Ahmed Kitchloo, MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar, and Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma, the meeting featured a detailed review of previous Action Taken Reports (ATRs).
Deputy Commissioner Sharma presented a comprehensive profile of the district’s performance in health, education, and rural development, highlighting actionable strategies for improved public outreach.
Concluding the session, Jitendra Singh issued immediate directives to senior district officers to resolve all pending issues raised during the meeting, reiterating the government’s commitment to inclusive development and prompt grievance redressal for the people of Kishtwar.
