JDA Secures Major Legal Victory in 30-Year-Old Dispute; ₹18.12 Crore Credited to Account

JAMMU January 21, 2026:- The Jammu Development Authority (JDA) has achieved a landmark institutional and financial milestone by winning a legal battle that remained unresolved for over three decades.

This successful resolution has led to the release of bank guarantees by Jammu & Kashmir Bank, amounting to ₹18.12 crore inclusive of interest, which has now been successfully credited to the JDA’s official account.

The closure of this case marks the end of a long-standing contingent financial burden, safeguarding substantial public funds that had been tied up in litigation since the 1990s.

The culmination of this prolonged dispute is being hailed as a testament to the JDA’s persistent institutional efforts and commitment to protecting public interests. VC JDA Rupesh Kumar attributed the victory to sustained teamwork and the diligent efforts of the JDA’s legal and administrative staff. He expressed gratitude for the guidance of senior officials, noting that the recovery of these funds will significantly bolster the Authority’s financial health and its ability to undertake future urban development projects.

By successfully navigating this complex 30-year legal journey, the JDA has reinforced its focus on transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management. The realization of the ₹18.12 crore provides a significant boost to the Authority’s liquidity, ensuring that resources once locked in legal stalemates are now available for the service and infrastructure development of Jammu.
