Javid Ahmad Dar Unfurls Tricolour as Baramulla Celebrates 77th Republic Day with Massive Public Participation
BARAMULLA, January 26, 2026 – The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with grand fervor at the District Police Lines Baramulla, where Minister for Agricultural Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives, and Elections, Javid Ahmad Dar, unfurled the National Flag.
The Minister inspected a spirited parade and took the ceremonial salute from contingents representing the BSF, CRPF, J&K Police, SSB, and IRP. The event also featured youth participation from NCC cadets of Government Degree College Baramulla and various local schools, reflecting a strong sense of national unity. In his address, the Minister paid tribute to India’s visionary constitutional leaders and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s democracy.
Highlighting the district’s developmental trajectory, Javid Dar detailed significant progress in agriculture, healthcare, and education, alongside major strides in road connectivity and youth empowerment.
A unique highlight of the celebration was a series of stalls established by the Indian Army, which showcased state-of-the-art weaponry and offered the public a rare insight into the military’s technological advancements. Various government departments, including Health and Agriculture, also set up stalls to educate citizens on available welfare schemes.
The ceremony was attended by prominent leaders including MLA Irshad Ahmad Kar, MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone, MLA Sajad Ahmad, and MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah, alongside Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa and SSP Gurinderpal Singh.
The festivities were enriched by vibrant cultural performances from students and local artists, showcasing Baramulla’s diverse heritage. The event concluded with an award ceremony honoring the best march-past contingents, cultural performers, and government employees recognized for outstanding public service.
Similar celebrations were held with equal enthusiasm at the sub-divisional levels of Sopore, Pattan, Uri, and Tangmarg, where local administrators unfurled the tricolour to mark the historic milestone of the Indian Republic.
