Javed Ahmed Rana Launches Road Development Projects Worth 3 Crore in Mendhar
MENDHAR, APRIL 09: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, launched a major infrastructure drive today by inaugurating and laying foundation stones for road projects totaling ₹3.19 crore.
This initiative aims to strengthen the road network in the border and rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting the government’s commitment to last-mile connectivity.
Among the key works is the construction of a road from Main Road NH-144A Kallar to Shadhara Sharief via Kamlo Gali, funded under the UT Capex Budget at ₹1 crore.
Additionally, the Ari to Sarhuti road has been upgraded via the MLA Constituency Development Fund for ₹50 lakh, with further macadamization and restoration works on the same stretch valued at ₹70 lakh.
Other projects include the ₹75 lakh macadamization of the road to Dara Top via Haji Pallu and the ₹24 lakh upgradation of the route to Shahstar Ziyarat.Addressing the local community, Javed Ahmed Rana emphasized that under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, the government treats quality connectivity as a fundamental right for every citizen.
He stated that durable road networks are essential for unlocking the socio-economic potential of underserved regions and bridging long-standing infrastructural gaps. The Minister highlighted a multi-pronged strategy that utilizes constituency funds and UT sector allocations to ensure that no village or border settlement remains isolated.
To ensure the longevity of these investments, Javed Ahmed Rana directed the Public Works (R&B) Department to maintain strict quality standards and adhere to project timelines, warning that any compromise on construction quality would be met with zero tolerance.
Local residents expressed their gratitude, noting that the improved infrastructure will serve as a catalyst for trade, entrepreneurship, and better livelihoods in Mendhar.
