Javed Ahmed Rana Attends 20th National Matsogi-Do Championship Final; ₹4.50 Lakh Cash Prizes Distributed
Jammu December 31, 2025:- Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, presided over the concluding ceremony of the 20th National Matsogi-Do Championship 2025 today at the University of Jammu’s Gymnasium Hall.
The four-day event, which commenced on December 28, drew elite martial artists from across India, showcasing a high standard of tactical skill, discipline, and sportsmanship. Accompanied by MLA Budhal Javaid Iqbal Choudhary as the Guest of Honour, the Minister commended the Matsogi-Do Federation of India and the State Association for their professional execution of the tournament and their role in identifying national talent for future global stages.
Addressing the athletes, the Minister described Matsogi-Do as a sophisticated combat martial art that uniquely blends self-defense with physical agility and mental fortitude. He noted that the sport’s emphasis on speed and tactical movement has made it increasingly popular among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
Minister Rana emphasized that hosting national-level championships is vital for projecting the Union Territory as a progressive and sports-friendly destination. He reaffirmed the Omar Abdullah-led government’s commitment to upgrading sports infrastructure to ensure J&K becomes a central hub for various sporting disciplines.During the ceremony, the Minister distributed cash prizes totaling ₹4.50 lakh to outstanding performers across the sub-junior, junior, and senior categories.
A significant highlight was the focus on women’s participation, with dedicated events celebrating the strength and skill of female martial artists. The Minister also announced that top-performing athletes from this championship would be shortlisted for international events, providing them a platform to represent the country globally.
The success of the 20th National Championship is expected to provide a major boost to sports tourism in the region while fostering values of self-control and confidence among the young practitioners.
