Jammu Tawi Riverfront Glows in Tricolour Ahead of 77th Republic Day

JAMMU, JANUARY 24, 2026 — In a vibrant display of patriotic fervor, the Tawi Riverfront was illuminated with tricolour façade lighting on Saturday evening as Jammu prepares for the 77th Republic Day celebrations.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), transformed the riverbank into a glowing tribute to the national flag. In addition to the façade lighting, decorative pole lights were activated along the left bank as part of ongoing urban enhancement under the Smart City project.

The ceremonial lighting was inaugurated at 6:00 PM by Dr. Devansh Yadav, CEO of Jammu Smart City Limited and Commissioner of JMC. Speaking at the event, Dr. Yadav highlighted that the lighting serves as both a visual tribute to the Republic and a symbol of Jammu’s evolving urban identity.

He emphasized that these aesthetic upgrades are part of a broader strategy to integrate functional urban planning with beautification to improve public spaces for residents and tourists alike.The festive transformation drew crowds of local residents and visitors, adding a celebratory atmosphere to the city’s landscape.

This illumination is part of a larger civic campaign by the JMC, which includes intensive cleanliness and anti-defacement drives to ensure the city reflects the dignity of the national festival. Senior officials, including JSCL Additional CEO Subah Mehta and Senior General Manager Rajesh Abrol, were also in attendance to mark the occasion.
